Your claim, in three steps

  1. Book an appointment
Have your provincial health card ready.
  2. Request your prescription
Discuss the device with your clinician.
  3. Purchase and submit
Send your prescription and paid invoice to your plan.

Start with your benefits provider.
Reimbursement depends on your individual plan.

You submit the claim. Keep your prescription private.

We do not deal with insurance companies directly. All insurance and HSA claims must be submitted by you. Do not send us your prescription. Keep it for your own records and submit it directly to your insurer or HSA administrator with your invoice.

Before you buy: confirm your coverage

The Dolphin Neurostim Professional is a Health Canada-licensed Class II TENS medical device. Your purchase may be eligible for reimbursement through a Canadian Health Spending Account (HSA) or Extended Health Care plan.

Coverage is not automatic. Whether your benefits are with Sun Life, Manulife, Canada Life, Blue Cross or another provider, ask your insurer or HSA administrator to confirm eligibility for your specific device and plan.

  • Is this device covered, and is pre-approval required?
  • What reimbursement limit, deductible or other conditions apply?
  • Do you need a prescription from a medical doctor (MD) or nurse practitioner (NP), and which practitioners does your plan accept?
  • What diagnosis, invoice, serial-number and submission details are required?

Get your prescription before you purchase. Ask for it to be dated on or before the date on your purchase invoice, and confirm your plan’s timing requirements before ordering.

Provincial coverage for a medical consultation is separate from HSA or insurance coverage for the device. See Sun Life’s guidance on checking your plan or contact your own benefits provider.

STEP 01

Book an appointment before purchasing

You can speak with your own doctor or nurse practitioner, or explore an online appointment. Have your provincial health card ready. Explain that you need an assessment and, if the clinician considers it appropriate, a device prescription for a reimbursement claim.

Some physician consultations are covered with an eligible provincial health card. Confirm your eligibility, appointment availability, and any uninsured note or form fees when booking. A prescription is issued at the clinician’s discretion.

ALBERTA · AHCIP

Rocket Doctor

Rocket Doctor advertises physician consultations covered for eligible Alberta residents. Choose Alberta and have your AHCIP health card ready.

BRITISH COLUMBIA · MSP

Rocket Doctor

Physician visits are advertised as covered with an eligible BC health card. Check current availability; a waitlist may apply.

ONTARIO · OHIP

Tia Health

Visit Tia Health, choose Book Now, and select Ontario. Eligible OHIP consultations may be covered. Confirm that your concern is suitable for virtual care.

About virtual care: Tia Health advises that a new muscle or joint problem may need an in-person assessment. Medical forms and certificates can carry an uninsured fee. Read Tia Health’s appointment and fee guidance.

DolphinMPS is not affiliated with Rocket Doctor or Tia Health.

STEP 02

Discuss your symptoms and request the right details

Describe where you have pain, how long you have had it and how it affects your daily activities. Ask whether the Dolphin Neurostim Professional is appropriate for you. Your clinician decides the diagnosis and treatment.

Share your insurer’s requirements. If your plan only needs a standard prescription note, explain that you are requesting that note rather than asking for a separate insurance form. If your plan requires additional paperwork, follow its instructions.

PRESCRIPTION CHECKLIST

Box A: details to discuss with your clinician

If the clinician recommends this device, ask for a signed, dated prescription note with the details your plan requires.

  1. Device to prescribe

Class II TENS Medical Device Dolphin Neurostim Professional

  2. Medical reason or diagnosis

Ask the clinician to record your actual diagnosis or medical reason, based on their assessment. Examples might include chronic lower back pain, sciatica, osteoarthritis, neck or shoulder pain, myofascial pain, or neuropathy. Use only the diagnosis the clinician determines applies to you.

  3. Signed prescription delivered to you

Request a signed and dated PDF through your email or patient portal. Because this device is ordered directly from DolphinMPS, ask for the note to be released to you rather than sent to a pharmacy or to us. Keep the original file so you can submit your own claim.

STEP 03

Purchase your device and submit your claim

  1. Save your prescription PDF. Download the signed note from your clinician’s email or patient portal before purchasing.
  2. Purchase your device online. Order from the Canadian DolphinMPS store and save the official invoice emailed to you. Check that your invoice and device details meet your plan’s requirements, including serial numbers where requested. Contact us if you need an invoice copy or device details.
  3. Submit both documents. Upload or mail your prescription and paid invoice through your insurer’s or HSA administrator’s approved claim process. Complete any additional plan forms, keep copies, and retain your submission confirmation.

Ready to submit?

  • Your plan has confirmed device eligibility, limits and any pre-approval requirements.
  • Your prescription is signed, dated and contains the medical details requested by your plan.
  • Your prescription date meets your plan’s purchase-timing rules.
  • You have your paid invoice, device details and any required additional forms.
  • You are submitting directly to your insurer or HSA administrator.

Reimbursement is subject to your individual plan. A prescription or a Health Canada-licensed device does not guarantee payment.
